Updated CVS Coupon Policy - September 2012

CVS Coupon Policy 

CVS has updated their coupon policy.  

The big change is:

• CVS/pharmacy will not accept third party manufacturers’ coupons with another retailer’s logo

This is not a good precedent for a retailer to set, but at leas they addressed the issue.

When I post CVS coupon match ups, I will try to catch all coupons with another store logo, but if I don't, please let me know.

As with all stores' coupon policies,  print a copy of the policy and take a copy of the policy with you when you shop.  You never know when you might need to remind a cashier of their store's policy.

Good news for Dollar Tree shoppers.  Dollar Tree will accept coupons in stores beginning Sunday, August 26, 2012

IN-STORE COUPON ACCEPTANCE: GUIDELINES & LIMITATIONS

1. Only original and intact manufacturers’ coupons will be accepted. Retailer-specific coupons will not be accepted.
2. Coupons are void if copied, scanned, or if they have been altered in any way.
3. Only two (2) print-at-home Internet coupons may be redeemed per transaction.
4. We are unable to accept coupons for “Free” items with no purchase requirements or where the amount for the product is blank.
5. Coupons can only be used in stores and must be presented at time of purchase. Coupons cannot be redeemed for cash at a later time.
6. Coupons will not be accepted without the purchase of the item specified and are subject to the terms listed (e.g. expiration date, size, limitations, quantity, etc.).
7. Coupons cannot be redeemed for more than the purchase price of the item.
8. Only one (1) manufacturer’s coupon will be accepted per item.
9. Management has the right to refuse any coupon or otherwise limit quantities.

Print Dollar Trees Coupon Policy and keep it with your coupon stash.  You never know when you might need to refresh a cashiers understanding of the policy.

New Walmart Coupon Policy

I need to say, I'm not a Walmart shopper. I don't live close to one, the few times I've shopped there, I didn't find fantastic deals, and I've heard about enough coupon nightmares not to make a trip to "cherry pick" only to have problems at the register .

Yesterday, Walmart published a new Coupon Policy.  Wow, I might need to about becoming a Walmart shopper.

A few of the most enticing changes.

• Walmart accepts checkout coupons (also called "Catalinas") that are printed at our competitors' registers, have "Manufacturer Coupon" with specific requirements printed on them, a valid remit address for the manufacturer, valid expiration date, and a scannable bar code.

• Coupons may exceed the price of the item.  Change may be given or applied toward the cost of the basket purchase.

• Walmart accepts competitor's coupons that feature a specific item for a specified price.

If you're a Walmart shopper, print the new policy and take it with you.

A year ago or so,  Target changed their coupon policy - only to change it a few weeks later.  I hope this policy sticks at Walmart.

Dierbergs Coupon Policy

Dierbergs' Policies and Procedures are now on their website including their coupon policy.

As with any published coupon policy, I suggest you print a copy and keep it with your coupons. Not only to remind yourself, but any cashier that might be a little fuzzy about the rules.

Double Coupons

Limit 3 Identical Coupons and 15 Total Coupons
•Offer restricted to 15 manufacturers' coupons per family when coupon value is 40¢ or less.
•Coupons over 40¢ in value or above the 15 coupon limit will be redeemed at face value.
This offer does not apply to "free," Dierbergs or Checkout coupons and excludes items prohibited by law.
•Amount refunded cannot exceed the price of the item.
•Only three identical coupons per day will be doubled.
•Coupons marked "not to be doubled" will be accepted at face value

Internet Coupons

Internet manufacturer coupons will be redeemed subject to the following restrictions:
•We will only accept coupons for free items that have a purchase requirement exceeding the retail of the free item.
•Internet manufacturer coupons exceeding $5.00 will not be accepted.
•Internet manufacturer coupons that exceed 50% of the regular retail value of the item will not be accepted.
•Internet manufacturer coupons that will not scan or appear to be photocopied will not be accepted.

Pricing Guarantee

If an item scans at a price that is higher than the posted shelf price, we will cheerfully give you the product FREE!
This policy does not apply to milk, liquor or tobacco.
Limit 1 FREE item per customer.

Refund Policy

•Merchandise returns over $5.00 with a receipt will be refunded.
•Merchandise returns over $5.00 without a receipt will be either
–Exchanged for similar merchandise
-or refunded with a gift card.

Several readers have mentioned their cashier has refuse a Internet printable coupon that was more than 50% of the sale price. The policy clearly states "regular retail price." You can help yourself out in these situations by taking note of the regular retail price when you shop. If your cashier questions the the Internet printable coupon, you'll be ready to help them out with the pricing information.

Walgreens Coupon Policy

Have you ever been told you can't use a manufacturer coupon and a coupon from Walgreens' Monthly Coupon Book on the same item? The ad says you can. The "Additional In-Store Walgreens Coupon" is in Walgreens' May Coupon Book.

Have you ever been told you didn't receive your Register Reward because you used a coupon? Wrong again. They advertise "Your final cost" after coupon and Register Reward.

I'm clipping these ad and won't shop at Walgreens without them. The stores I shop at have been very coupon friendly, but I've heard from many readers that isn't always the case. I encourage everyone to clip these ads and take them with them when they shop at Walgreens.

Dollar General Coupon Policy

I'm not much of a Dollar General shopper, but have been known to shop there when I hear of a good deal. They now have published a coupon policy. Check it out HERE.


The best news with Dollar General's coupon policy:

• Dollar General will accept internet printable coupons
• You may use a Dollar General coupon along with a manufacturer's coupon for the same item
  
  Knowing a store's coupon policy makes shopping much easier, and a store having a published policy keeps cashiers from making up their own. I will print out a copy of the policy and keep it in my coupon holder. It never hurts to have "proof" with you when you shop.
  
  

Target Coupon Policy

I love the deals I can get at Target, but they aren't without a hitch, sometimes. Not all Target employees or managers are coupon friendly. I've called Target Guest Relations several times trying to clarify what the coupon policy is. Guest Relations has always been very helpful and they have always given me the same answers.

"Target Stores Coupon Policy

Coupons are a great way to save even more when shopping with us, and it's easy to use them at our stores.

• Target accepts one manufacturer coupon and one Target coupon for the same item (unless prohibited)
• Super Target coupons can be used in any Target store if the store carries the item
• We gladly accept valid internet coupons

Because of the variety of coupons available to our guests, we do have some guidelines for how coupons can be redeemed at Target.

When accepting coupons, we use the following guidelines:
• We accept two kinds of coupons: Target-issued coupons and manufacturer-issued.
• We'll accept one Target coupon and one manufacturer coupon for the same item, unless either coupon prohibits it.
• Coupon amount may be reduced if it exceeds the value of the item after other discounts or coupons are applied.
• We can't give cash back if the face value of a coupon is greater than the purchase value of the item.
• We can't accept coupons from other retailers, or coupons for products not carried in our stores.
• All valid coupons should be presented to the cashier while you're checking out. "


One problem I've had lately using coupons at Target is being told the coupon is good only for the product in the picture, and this issue is not addressed in their store coupon policy. I called and spoke with Guest Relations about this issue. Guest Relations told me the wording on the coupon is what the stores should follow. The wording will spell out what, if any, restrictions the coupon has. They also told me to call them from the store if I had any problems using coupons. (Only problem - they are only available Monday through Friday - 7 am to 6 pm.)

I would suggest you print a copy of Target's store coupon policy to have with you when you shop, and put the Guest Relations phone number (800-440-0680) in your cell phone. Hopefully this information will make everyone's Target coupon shopping a pleasant experience.
