Saved 64% This Week

This is the last of my 2009 purchases. I'm really pleased how much I was able to save. Tracking my spending and savings has helped me stay focused and accountable to my budget.

Target

The I had coupons for the Sobe water and they were on a gift card deal, so they ended up costing 25 cents each. The cookie dough and this one package of Reynolds wrap were on Christmas clearance.

Whenever I purchase a gift card deal, I split my purchases into two transactions and use my gift card to pay for the second transactions. Not only does it bring down my weekly out of pocket expense, but then I don't have to remember to use the gift card the next time I'm at Target.

My pork-loving husband went shopping with me - there was no way I was not going to purchase the $1.99 lb. whole pork loin with him along. I had the butcher cut it into chops and a couple small roast, so the picture doesn't show how big it really was. The pork loin put me over this weeks budget, but I had wiggle room because I've been under budget quite a few weeks.

For the last few weeks, I've been picking up 3 lb. bags of apples for 99 cents, intending to freeze some homemade applesauce. But the family has been eating it before I can get it in the freezer. Hopefully, this week I can get some frozen.
