Walgreens $5 Scenario - Week of 8/15/10

The most cost effective way to shop at Walgreens is to roll your Register Rewards from week to week.

If you are following my Walgreens $5 Scenarios, you have a $4 Baush & Lomb and a $2 Energizer Register Reward from last week to start with.

Even though it's not the best Register Reward week at Walgreens, you can still bring home some great deals and only spend pocket change.

Check out all of this week's Walgreens deals HERE.

Transaction
purchase:
(2) B1G1 Right Guard or Dry Idea Deodorants $3.99
(2) Pilot Frixion Erasable Gel Pens @ $1.99 = $3.98
(2) B1G1 Stride Shift Gum $1.29
(2) Head & Shoulders Shampoo or Conditioner $8.00
(1) Aussie Shampoo or Conditioner $2.99
(1) Aussie Styler $2.99
(2) Penway 2 Pocket Folder with Prongs @.99 = $1.98 (need as filler to use last week's RR)

use:
(1) B1G1 Right Guard or Dry Idea coupon (7/25/10 RP) -$3.99

(1) B1G1 Stride Shift coupon (5/16/10 SS) -$1.29

Baush & Lomb Register Reward from last week -$4.00
Energizer Register Reward from last week -$2.00
= $0.31 + tax out of pocket and receive a $2 and $1 P&G Register Reward

Items Purchase
(2) deodorants
(2) pens
(2) packs of gum
(3) shampoos and/or conditioners
(1) styler
(2) folders

Total retail before sales & coupons: $38.48
Total out of pocket: $0.31 + tax for a 99% savings
And have a $3 in Register Reward to start next week

If you didn't have the $6 in Register Rewards to start with, don't bother purchasing the pocket folders, since you don't need fillers. You still will only spend $5.97 with this scenario for a 84% savings.

NOTE: Not all Walgreens are coupon friendly. They should accept a B1G1 coupon on a B1G1 sale and accept both a B1G1 coupon and $ off coupon when you buy 2 products. But, don't be surprised if your store won't. Walk away and find a Walgreens that will. Remember, it takes a strong backbone and thick skin to coupon.
