Saved 66% This Week on a Coupon Holiday

I'm calling this week my "Coupon Holiday" because I didn't use one coupon. There weren't any coupon match-ups at the grocery stores that interested me this week, so I picked up some produce and a few other items and called it quits. As always, my budget drives my buying decisions. As long as I'm within budget and have what I need to feed the family, that is all that's important to me.

Office Depot & OfficeMax
There are fantastic sales at the office supply stores this time of year. I pick up the door busters, keep what my family needs and donate the rest of the supplies.

Before sales: $47.97
Spent: $5.20
Saved: $42.77 for a 89% savings

Shop 'n Save, Schnucks & Deirbergs
Buns are from Dierbergs, peaches and pork steak from Schnucks and the vegetables and salsa are from Shop 'n Save.

I've got "cherry picking" down to a Science. I have a circuit where I can hit all three grocery stores within a short distance of each other. I shop from a list, so I can get in and out of each store quickly.

As an added bonus, I found some packages of pork steaks that were on sale at Schnucks this week on a Managers Special - marked down an additional 25%. I was going to come home and repackage my pork steaks and put them in the freezer anyway. It doesn't matter to me that the sale by date is the day after I bought them.

Before sales: $44.34
Spent: $22.04
Saved: $22.30 for a 50% savings

Aldi
Comparable Schnucks price: $13.89
Spent: $8.73
Saved: $5.16 for a 37% savings

Weekly Totals
Before sales: $106.20
Spent: $35.97
Saved: $70.23 for a 66% savings

Year to Date Totals
Spent: $1,200.96
($40 average)
Saved: $3,672.81 ($122 average)

Splurge Funds: $290.43

For those who don't read my blog on a regular basis, my splurge funds are the difference between what I've actually spent and my $50 budget. I use it for those items I never find on sale or that I don't have coupons for.
